One World

Jeden Svet, as it's known in Czech, is a festival of photography and film from around the world focusing on social responsibility and global awareness. Its highly non-commercial works tell the stories of refugees, the hungry and the oppressed from Africa to Lapland. This collection of still photos from the festival, presents the best and most probing images from fresh young artists such as Jan Mihalícek, Ondrej Nemec, Jan Sibík, Pavel Hroch, Libuse Rudinská, Michal Novotny, Iva Zímova, Lubomír Kotek, Andrej Bán and Milan Maryska. The range of styles and what each distinctly lends to its subjects is impressive.

Anima Sound System

Anima Sound System provide excellent Hungarian electronic music in a three-story dance space that attracts a cool young crowd. The group uses fresh, creative approaches to produce music with hip hop and trippy beats. The Szabadidokozpont (free time centre) is a cavernous hall that makes an excellent club. There's usually movies and hip hop outside the main concert stage, trip hop in the side room and chill-out music upstairs. But be sure to see the star performers before finding a personal groove spot.

Its Bloomies' building location make this pan-Asian restaurant a lunchtime favourite with shoppers and office workers who nibble from the sushi bar and rolling dim sum carts. Light steamed vegetable dumplings are filled with mushrooms, water chestnuts, greens and baby pok choy. Taro cakes are not only healthy, but also nutty and delicious. The beautifully renovated space features hot pink walls, blue-green and even red-tinted wooden floors and a waterfall. Weekday evenings are the time to find a quiet table.
