Jim Dine - Walking Memories: 1959-1969

Jim Dine's expressive paintings of every-day items have placed him alongside such pop art pioneers as Warhol, Lichtenstein and Claes Oldenburg. But Dine's work appears more intimate and searching than his prankster contemporaries. 'Walking Memories' is part of a Guggenheim series on the early work of leading American artists, and explores Dine's rapid rise through New York's 'happenings' scene in the 60s to iconic status, after which his work extended to sculpture and print-making and assumed a more personal focus.
