Solaris
In a city like Paris where what you wear is of such vital importance, it's no surprise that bifocal sunglasses should be chosen with the same seriousness as any other item of clothing. This functional and well-stocked shop is a good bet if you don't want to be seen wearing shoddy shades. It has literally wall-to-wall sunglasses, from the likes of Gucci and Armani to home-grown but very chic brands such as Vuarnet. Mirrors are set between the racks, making it the perfect place to try glasses on without being pressured by shop assistants. There are also branches in the Forum des Halles (1st) and on rue d'Arcole (4th).

The Idjut Boys
Seriously deep house is promised at the PoD when the Idjut Boys land for Sunday night. Taking traditional funk and throwing in some shiny disco snippets, lots of humorous interludes and salsa-soul rhythms, the Indjut Boys - namely Dan Tyler and Conrad McDonnell- have fun with their club nights. If a meld of disco, dub, funk and jazz doesn't keep some of the crowd happy some of the time then nothing will - the boys would be as happy to have you laughing, if not dancing, the night away.

But I didn't know it was there!
Make sure you know exactly what you have in your luggage before boarding a plane, and don't carry things for other people. Some countries will not take any excuse for possession of illegal substances, accidental or not!
